La 23ª edizione di Artecinema, Festival Internazionale di Film sull’Arte Contemporanea, a cura di Laura Trisorio, sarà inaugurata giovedì 11 ottobre 2018, alle ore 20.00, presso il Teatro San Carlo e proseguirà nei giorni 12-13-14 ottobre presso il Teatro Augusteo di Napoli, dalle ore 16 alle 24 con ingresso gratuito.
NAPOLI – Attraverso la proiezione di 25 documentari sui maggiori artisti, architetti e fotografi della scena internazionale, sarà offerta al pubblico una preziosa occasione per comprendere la poetica degli artisti, per vederli al lavoro nei loro atelier e per mostrare l’evoluzione dei linguaggi dell’arte contemporanea.
Artecinema è riconosciuto in ambito internazionale come una delle manifestazioni più significative del settore e anno dopo anno continua a richiamare un pubblico sempre più numeroso.
Focus di questa edizione sarà la fervente atmosfera artistica della New Yorkdegli anni Ottanta attraverso film dedicati a Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Robert Mapplethorpe e alla scena artistica di due metropoli come Berlino e Johannesburg.
Tutti i film saranno proiettati in lingua originale con traduzione simultanea in cuffia.
I registi e alcuni artisti interverranno personalmente per presentare i film. Sarà pubblicato un catalogo italiano/inglese con testi critici, sinossi dei film e brevi biografie dei registi.

Il Festival ha consolidato negli anni il proprio impegno nel sociale lavorando in sinergia con altre istituzioni cittadine. Oltre alle consuete proiezioni presso i due teatri, sono previste:
･ 12 ottobre proiezioni per gli studenti delle scuole secondarie di Napoli e provincia presso l’Istituto francese
･ 12 ottobre proiezioni per i detenuti presso la Casa Circondariale di Nisida
･ 13 ottobre proiezioni per i detenuti presso il Carcere di Secondigliano
･ 15 ottobre proiezioni per le scuole superiori del Comune di Anacapri
･ 16 ottobre incontri e workshop per gli dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli
･ 17 ottobre incontri e proiezioni per gli studenti dell’Università Suor Orsola Benincasa
･ 18 ottobre proiezioni e dibattito per gli studenti del Liceo Artistico del Suor Orsola Benincasa

The 23rd Artecinema International Festival of Films on Contemporary Art, curated by Laura Trisorio, will be inaugurated Thursday, 11 October, 2018 at the San Carlo Theatre and is scheduled to continue the 12-13-14 October at the Augusteo Theatre of Naples, from 4.00 p.m. to midnight, admission free-of-charge.
The projection of 25 documentaries on leading, internationally renowned artists, architects and photographers offers the public an invaluable opportunity to comprehend the poetics of these artists, to observe them at work in their studios and an illustration of the evolution of various languages of contemporary art.
Artecinema has been internationally recognized as one of the sector’s most significant events which, with each passing year, continues to attract an ever increasing number of spectators.
This year’s Festival focuses on the fervent artistic atmosphere of New York in the Eighties through films dedicated to Jean-Michel Basquiat, Julian Schnabel, Robert Mapplethorpe and the art scene in the two metropolises of Berlin and Johannesburg.
All films will be shown in their original language with simultaneous interpretation provided via earphones.
The directors and some artists will appear in person to present their films. An Italian / English catalogue will be published featuring critical reviews, film synopses and brief biographies of the directors.

Over the course of many years, the Festival has consolidated its social commitment by working in synergy with other institutions in the city. In addition to the scheduled projections, the following events have been organized:

･ 12 October projections for inmates at the Youth Detention Centre in Nisida
･ 13 October showings for inmates at the Secondigliano Prison
･ 15 October projections for the secondary schools in Anacapri
･ 16 October encounters and workshops for students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples
･ 17 October encounters and projections for the students at Suor Orsola Benincasa University
･ 18 October projections and debates for students at Suor Orsola Benincasa Artistic High School
